This restaurant shines as a local gem, serving a diverse menu where hearty British classics meet fresh, contemporary flavors.
The cuisine here is a celebration of comfort food done right. Customers consistently praise the crispy, succulent chicken, which pairs perfectly with golden, well-seasoned chips, delivering that satisfying crunch with every bite. The carvery is a standout specialty, offering generous portions of tender, flavorful roast meats accompanied by seasonal vegetables and rich gravy — a true taste of home-cooked goodness that feels both indulgent and comforting. It’s easy to see why visitors like Ruth consider the carvery “extremely tasty” and great value for money.
Beyond roasts, the café delights with lighter choices that are just as memorable. The smashed avocado on sourdough, topped with perfectly poached eggs and crispy bacon, is a fresh and vibrant option that Lauren Littlewood highly recommends. For those craving something quick yet fulfilling, dishes like mac and cheese and chargrilled chicken salad with couscous provide wonderfully balanced, flavorful meals that satisfy diverse palates. The tuna mayo jacket potato also earns praise for its spot-on taste and comforting heartiness.

We had to wait a little to get a table which is fine, I like that someone sees you to a table and I like that it's waiter service. The food didn't take long to arrive and it was absolutely lovely, really can't fault it. My son had mac and cheese which he enjoyed, my husband loved his chargrilled chicken salad and cous cous and my tuna mayo jacket potato was spot on, really tasty. I am also pleased that Fanta zero was on menu because most places insist on having full sugar Fanta.

It's years since we have visited but it has had a nice modern makeover. Plenty of options on the menu. The portions are huge which is very nice to see. We shared a dessert between two with a drink. Not overpriced either. Would recommend
